You Deserve a Beautiful Smile
Crowns are used in cosmetic and restorative dentistry to improve aesthetics and oral health. At Burley Dentistry, we provide a variety of Charlotte restorative dentistry and cosmetic services, including dental crowns. Our goal is to provide our patients with the treatments they need to restore and maintain optimal dental health.
A dental crown is a prosthetic covering used for a variety of purposes such as to repair a damaged tooth or replace a missing tooth. The crown is designed to mimic the appearance of the natural tooth so it is not noticeable. The crown both strengthens the natural tooth and improves the function and appearance of your tooth.
Dental crowns generally require two visits to the dentist, one to make an impression and prepare the tooth and the second to place the crown, after it is crafted in the lab. However, the process can usually be completed in one visit at Burley Dentistry using our CEREC technology for same day crowns. When a crown is placed over a dental implant, you need to wait for the implant to heal and fuse to the bone before the crown is attached. The procedure requires preparing the tooth by removing a thin layer of the natural tooth enamel before the crown can be set in place. Crowns can last for 20 years, with proper care.
